Remember in my very first post ‘Who are the NextGenAfricanFarmers‘ I said that the NextGenAfricanFarmers should be educated. I’m doing just that :-). Academically my background is in Economics, Politics, Development and Planning. Professionally I’m a management accountant, when I landed a finance job after graduating I had to do the management accounting qualification exams a.k.a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). That’s like going to university all over again because it takes like 3 years, just that this time you are also working fulltime. Well the moral of the story is that I have no real Agriculture training :-). However I did it for 3 years during my secondary school education. Considering I’ve forgotten most of what I learnt, I’m not sure it counts.

On the 15th of July at exactly 10.15a.m I started a 10 weeks long course on How to start your business in agric business enterprises. The course is organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operatives. The training is taking place at the Farm Service Centre, Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos. The course will include training on poultry, pig production, rabbit and grass cutter production, fish farming, farm management, crop and coconut production. It cost ₦40,000 approx. US$248.

Stay tuned will be sharing my notes with you.

Thanks for stopping by :-)!

  1. Just stopping by to commend your effort on this ‘reinvention’ you are doing for Agric in Africa. I must note that I actually got to know of this blog today through someone very dear to you- your mum. It is a worthy revolution you are leading and I think you need all the support you can get! Agric is inherent to Africa and there is no excuse for the present hunger all over the places. To take its pride of place in the global reckoning Africa must do a whole lots of things including but not limited to feeding itself. To feed itself and kill hunger, Africa must return to the farms. It must return to its agricultural enablements in all ramification- farming, gracing and etcetera. To think that you are actually ‘abandoning’ your major career path shows that this is a selfless and passionate revolution you are leading. Again, this is just to identify with your noble mission and I say kudos to you. Best of luck.
